"Joy Comes In The Morning"

"Joy Comes In The Morning" 2015
The night was very long.  Physical pain, overly busy mind and sleeplessness... these nights seem like they'll never end. Then slowly the light came through the curtain. As the sun became stronger, the darkness surrendered.  A wise man once said: "Sorrow may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

"What Is Beautiful?"

I think a woman's beauty is in her determination, her kindness... and what else?

"Where We Meet II"

"New Beginning" 2015
I started painting a desert, then it just kept doing its own thing and just bloomed! A new beginning.

The Kitchen Window

"The Kitchen Window" 2008
I remember the kitchen window in Alexandria. It was our summer home, when I was a little girl, so I painted it as a child would!

I find Him in peaceful places

So a friend once told me:"Reem, I would not recognize you without  all your beads, your chunky silver Jewelry and your thick black eyeliner!"  So in honor of all the women who love to adorn themselves, because we can... voila!  Here's me with just a tiny bit of my chuncky beads and chains... there's a big old thick line of Egyptian black eyeliner behind the fierce sunglasses... sometimes we paint  so we can laugh!

Faith Is Evidence

"Faith Is Evidence" 2013
I decided to post this today as an act of defiance and close fisted rebellion. February 2nd was my least favorite day.  It was the last day my feet felt wet grass.  The day I sat in a wheelchair.  So I painted this in rebellion against a disease, against pain, and against anything that paralyzes and confines the magnificent human body that was created for movement... for leaping and belly dancing to the perfect percussion of a magical Egyptian drum... for splashing around in a salty sea... for riding a horse.  So this is by no means sad, it is a celebration of what could be.  My husband says that I don't have a cynical bone in my body, okay very good then... here's to the possible and the probable.  Impossible is such an overused and boring word.

The heavens are always open, sometimes we're unaware of it.  It's good to stop and look up everyday and take in heaven's strength and protection.
