Away from the busy city, in scattered villages along the Nile, beautiful women and girls carry water to take back home. They had the most beautiful posture and heavily lined eyes. I used to fill my little plastic beach bucket with water and practiced walking with it.... and took a surprise shower every single time!

MY FIRST SOLO ART EXHIBITION!
Somethings just happen unintentionally.... good things... very good things! I was selected to have a solo exhibition of my art. I am humbled, excited, faltered and everything in between. who knew that this little, personal hobby could be good enough for people to see? My heart will be out there. People get to see the saddest and most hopeful moments of my heart. I'm fine with this... very fine with it (so I tell myself)!

The Long And Winding Road
Sometimes the road we're on is a little too winding and feels a million miles too long, but there are little resting spots along side i. Art is truly one of the resting places. A heavenly gift given in the deepest times of pain and distress. An escape... to swim in bright colors and feel a peace that surpasses understanding. It's always good to look UP! Heaven smiles on us, but sometimes we don't take notice.

So in honor of all the women who love to adorn themselves, because we can... voila! Here's me with just a tiny bit of my chuncky beads and chains... there's a big old thick line of Egyptian black eyeliner behind the fierce sunglasses... sometimes we paint so we can laugh!

Faith Is Evidence
"Faith Is Evidence" 2013
I decided to post this today as an act of defiance and close fisted rebellion. February 2nd was my least favorite day. It was the last day my feet felt wet grass. The day I sat in a wheelchair. So I painted this in rebellion against a disease, against pain, and against anything that paralyzes and confines the magnificent human body that was created for movement... for leaping and belly dancing to the perfect percussion of a magical Egyptian drum... for splashing around in a salty sea... for riding a horse. So this is by no means sad, it is a celebration of what could be. My husband says that I don't have a cynical bone in my body, okay very good then... here's to the possible and the probable. Impossible is such an overused and boring word.

My childhood friend, whom I had not seen since I was 13 years old, surprised me by coming to America from Egypt. A picture flashed in my spirit. It was a picture of innocence, when I lived for the day and not having a care in the world. This is what I ended up painting. It's not my usual style of strong lines and colors, because it could not be. It is a memory and a fantasy of returning to an ethereal gentle time, where little girls played and didn't give tomorrow a second thought.

I was once told that I have too much faith. Well, Faith by definition Faith is just that, Faith! It's beautiful and amazing. It gets us into a supernatural realm where there are no limitations. So I like to meditate on that. A central nervous system does not regenerate, but in the realm of faith it's not only possible but very highly probable... ultimately happenable (I know that's not a word), but let's add it to our dictionary.
